It’s Time to Party Like a Panda!! This is one of the cutest party themes for kids! It’s simple to complete the look with all kinds of black and white supplies. But one thing….I’m not a fan of black frosting on a cake! It’s unappealing and leaves you looking like you were sucking on a Crayola marker. THIS is an adorable, easy cake idea and will NOT leave anyone with black teeth.
Pandas eat bamboo, pretty much all day, every day. And these filled wafer cookies look a lot like bamboo. Perfect!
We used dark chocolate-filled Pirouline cookies which I found at Dollar Tree. We makes very similar Pirouette wafers, but without the outer darker line of colour. These will also work well, and are available in most grocery stores.
Bamboo ‘s got leaves, so We decided to add some greenery. panda theme cake could be done with frosting but with a frosting piping bag, we ‘re not that fancy. We needed something simpler so at Hobby Lobby we found the fake greenery. Any green featuring small, small leaves should fit.
Start by snipping off little pieces of the greenery into 3/4 inch pieces. Make sure you have a little bit of stem at one end without leaves. You can cut off a couple of leaves if you need to. That will give you room to stick the stem into the filling part of the cookie.
Next, cut the cookies (with a knife) to varying sizes with the tallest ones around the same height as your cake or a little taller. I suggest eating the extra little pieces of cookie that you cut off.
